Student Success at AU

The Student Success Center is a central place for career and academic support services — a hub for educational and vocational engagement. The center empowers students to discover and achieve their academic and professional goals from the point of entry to graduation and beyond. By partnering with faculty and other campus offices, the Student Success Center provides the support students need to make the most of their college experience.

The Student Success Center is dedicated to helping students:

  • transition into college and their careers
  • make informed choices regarding their academic program(s) and vocation
  • access an inclusive environment that permits them to learn
  • develop dynamic strategies to maximize their learning and academic success
  • locate opportunities for relevant hands-on learning
  • persist in their journey toward their educational goals
  • discover a deep sense of community by connecting with valuable resources and services across campus

In the fall, Augustana University brought back its criminal justice major after nearly 35 years — adding to the list of interdisciplinary academic programs being developed as part of Augustana’s strategic plan Viking Bold: The Journey to 2030.

Through the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program, four Augustana students are getting the opportunity to make the world their classroom. Susana Gebrekidan ‘26, Ashley Grandpre ‘24, Rachida Mahamed ‘25 and Alena Vishnevsky ‘26 are the 2023-24 recipients of the Gilman Scholarship — an award that allows students to study abroad who may not have been able to otherwise.

Augustana Student Association (ASA) President Lauren Teller ‘24 and Vice President Henry Sule ‘24 have different backgrounds and nearly opposite Augustana stories. These differences, though, have made their partnership and administration stronger, as the pair focuses on transparency and connection.
